When it comes to trusting your instincts, it’s not always easy. How do you know when your gut feeling is right and when it’s wrong? You might have a feeling about something but wonder whether or not you should trust it and make the decision that your mind is telling you to make. Here are some situations where your intuition is probably right and you should follow it.
When you meet somebody new
Meeting somebody new can be exciting, nerve-wracking and awkward. One of the things we hear a lot about is ‘first impressions’ – we learn how to make a great first impression and regularly comment on all the things about a person that didn’t give such a good first impression. The fact of the matter is that when you meet somebody new, first impressions really are something to consider. If you have a bad feeling about somebody at a first meeting, it’s probably right.
When you’re worried about somebody
You might have no reason to be worried about somebody, but there’s a fine line between being worried and anxious and overthinking a situation and then having a genuine concern about the health and well-being of somebody you love. If you ever get this feeling, the best thing to do is contact the person you are worried about and speak to them. Ask if anything is wrong, and don’t be too afraid to push it if you feel like they aren’t telling you the truth.
When you think something is wrong with your health
Another situation where your intuition is right a lot of the time is when it comes to your health. This is partly because you can often physically feel things that could be wrong with you, but it can also be due to the fact that your body is subconsciously telling your mind that something isn’t right. Rather than worrying and getting anxious over the instinct that you have about your physical well-being, make an appointment with your doctor and try not to worry too much until then.
When you feel something is wrong with a relationship
This could be a relationship with a family member or friend, or it could be a romantic relationship that you are involved in. When it comes to different relationships with people, if you feel like something is wrong, it probably is. Talk to the other person as soon as possible to iron out any problems which might be occurring, and take steps to solve any issues which you are creating within the relationship.
